15 minutes and counting down

So the Associated Press did an article about me, and the result has been a whirlwind of attention. To be honest, it's all a little overwhelming, but I figure I'll just enjoy it while it lasts. So this morning I agreed to be interviewed by Kemberly Richardson (pictured above) for ABC News, and, though I was nervous, it turned out to be a lot of fun. The segment should appear on either Wednesday or Thursday during the 5:00 p.m. broadcast. I'm only now beginning to wrap my brain around all this, it's just so utterly surreal, but it has certainly made the past few days interesting, to say the least.

UPDATE: Supposedly the segment is gonna run tonight (Thursday) during the 6:00 pm broadcast. I won't be able to watch because I'll be in the cab by then, but I'll be taping it.

Love your blog. It is funny and a great escape from work. I am just curious why the lady from ABC is the same hue as an Oompa Loompa. Does she not look orange? Anyway, that is a great news hit. Best of luck to you.

Congrats with the tv appearance. I love the blog! I'm a Jersey girl from West Orange (not an asshole...I never drive when I'm in New York since I know I would just piss people off) but I'm living down in North Carolina currently. Your blog makes me miss home! I'll definitely be checking it out from now on.

You have 223 comments, so I'm not expecting you to read this, but I've been a subscriber to your RSS feed for a few months now and agree with the comments you consistently get - you're an engaging and entertaining writer and got me excited about my recent move to the Lower East Side just the other week.

Congrats on the press! That's always exciting! You certainly deserve it.

I too discovered your blog thanks to Yahoo's feature earlier this week and have spent the past few days getting caught up on your previous posts. Terrific work!

My wife, 2 adult kids and I spent one of the best weeks of our lives, and certainly one of our two best vacations ever, in NYC between Christmas and New Years (yep, including Times Square on 12/31). New Yorkers have got to be some of the luckiest people on the planet. What a great, vibrant, exciting, etc., etc., city. We loved every moment of our trip and are already plotting our next escape from Orange County in SoCal to NYC. We're all life long Californians, or close to it, but NY wins hands down in all comparisons to LA, aka Blandville.

Your blog is another way for us to continue to connect with the good people of NY. Keep safe and continue to write.

i found an article about you at smh.com.au, but by the time i thought to tell one of my best mates about it (sydney cabbie/rock god from the splatterheads) the smh had dropped you for a picture of nicole kidman and the coronial findings into a fuckin' whale that died up the thames. luckily i work there, so was able to find it. (smh, not thames). so, mp, i'm gonna hold you responsible for being the proverbial straw. umpteen friends have bitched to me "write a blog." but it was your astute observations that immediately inspired me. in the words of david byrne: "my god! what have i done?"

Awesome blog. I read your story on Yahoo! News. Maybe you should come down to Los Angeles area and do your service here. I don't drive due to my physical disabilities so you seem like an awesome driver.

I (accidently) found your blog last week and read the entire thing while at work. Then I sent the link to all my pals to read to help whittle away their days at work. I'm hooked now. You don't write everyday and that's a drag. Keep up the writing so you can keep me entertained. You see, I do work in an office. I have also discovered a new game show called "Cash Cab". Interesting game show that takes place in a New York cab where the host (the cab driver) asks his (normal off the street) passengers trivia questions and they win money for each question they answer correctly before they reach their destination. It's on a cable channel so if you haven't seen it, check it out.

PS: What the hell is that reporter wearing? She needs to look in the mirror before she steps outside! LOL...

ALL you NY cabbies drive like fucking animals!
Too bad I don't work for N World Tours anymore. Most fun I ever had in the 4 years I worked for them was to take that 45 ft diesel coach to manhattan a couple of trips a week to terrorize you cabdrivers and limo jockeys.
You are absolutely the worst!
you even outdo the drivers in Paris!

Just read about this blog in Jerusalem...
Good luck!
